OPEN CALL:
Drawn to the moment
Immaterial Projects is pleased to invite artists to submit work for Drawn to The Moment, a group exhibition celebrating the power and potential of drawing. Inspired by John Berger's essay, this exhibition seeks to explore the unique ability of drawing to capture time, memory, and the quintessence of lived experiences.
We are interested in drawings that:
Explore the fleeting nature of time and the significance of capturing a unique, unrepeatable moment in time.
Drawings that visibly reveal the artist's act of seeing, questioning, and interpreting the world.
Works that embody the simultaneity of moments, which create a totality rather than a fragment.
Drawings that capture time and offer a space for memory and reflection.
Works that navigate the tension between personal experience and objective observation.
Works that demonstrate the relationship between the artist and their drawn subjects.
Media: All drawing media are welcome, including but not limited to graphite, charcoal, ink, colored pencil, pastel, riso prints, monoprints, and mixed media drawing.
About the Exhibition: Drawn to The Moment will be held in a beautiful, intimate, and naturally lit printmaking studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. We believe this will highlight the relevance of drawing as a vibrant part of one’s art practice.
The curation of this exhibition is led by collective members Pilar Lagos, a multi-disciplinary artist whose work addresses women’s reproductive health, and Tracie Lee, an artist who draws on Western and Chinese painting traditions to engage with the climate crisis.
How to Apply: Please use this Google Form to submit to the open call. There is no fee to enter the open call. Please only submit one application.
